Bio-Response Solutions was chosen to provide the Effluent Decontamination System for Iowa State University's Vet Med facility. This system was required to have 1,200 gallons of collection capacity and 250 gallons of cooker capacity, and it all had to be squeezed through a small man-way beside an existing piece of equipment. Bio-Response built the EDS on-site and delivered the project on time and on budget, as always. Enjoy the timeline and photos for this exceptional project. Bio-Response would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone at Iowa State University for the hard work and the opportunity to be involved in the project.

Week 1: Collector Install and Assembly
Below is the small passage where the system enters the room.

The collection tank was brought into the small space in four sections, as you can see below. Those pieces were mated together, purge welded, and polished in place.

Each section was loaded onto the loading dock area, then hoisted into the building.

Here you can see the tank section being lowered down the hoist shaft into the basement.

Here is a completed collector after it has been welded together. Feldmeier welding experts mate the sections together with precision.

Week 2: Cooker Installation and Mechanical Connections
The Bio-Response team falls victim to a hit and run by a tractor trailer. Thankfully our trailer and truck absorbed most of the impact and we were able to walk away. There were literally hundreds of cars in the ditch on this section of highway, and many occupants were not as fortunate as us. After three days of waiting for a tow, we were back on the road again, ready to make up for the lost time.

All welding and mechanical connections are finished during a second week of long hours.

Week 3: Wiring and Electrical

Bill Mac and Pat Woodlock complete the wiring connections during the third week.

Week 4: Running the Machine
Bio-Response CEO, Joe Wilson and programmer Scott Pennington run the machine for its first time. The results are in for the first cycle...fill, heat, cook, and drain in 93 minutes. This shows the true power of the Bio-Response coil heating system with a good steam supply. Fast and efficient heat transfer, and with longer life than jacketed vessels.

Week 5: Final Run-In and Training
Five weeks from the start of an extensive on-site build to the final testing and running of the machine. Below is Scott Pennington monitoring the final cycles.

Notice the Upper Thermocouple, Lower Thermocouple, and Drain Temperature on our system during the cook cycle. We measure the top two inches of water, the bottom two inches, and the drip leg. There are no cold spots in our systems.
